Poppy's Sausage is rooted in a family legacy that stretches back to 1956, when Dale Schapansky — lovingly known as "Poppy" — built a sausage tradition in Reedley, California from the ground up. His German sausage recipe became a staple in the local Mennonite community, earning the loyalty of generations of customers, restaurants, and stores over more than five decades. When Dale retired in 2014 at 85, he passed down the craft to his son and daughter who carried it forward with the same dedication and pride. Today, daughter Denise, her husband Lloyd, and their daughter Tiffany and son-in-law Jake run Poppy's — honoring the man who started it all, one handcrafted link at a time.
